- Joe Biden will repeal the tax bill on day one: he will get rid of it.
- The key difference was whether Trump's tax cuts actually helped middle-class Americans.
- Joe Biden's plan is similar to testing, tracing, and other efforts the Trump administration has worked on.
The vice president and Senator Kamala Harris squared off Wednesday night on the same topic, from pandemics to health care. In response to Harris' allegations, that the Trump administration doesn't have a pandemic plan, Pence said that Biden's plans are very similar to testing, tracing, and other Trump administration efforts. “When I look at their plan,” Pence said,
it feels a bit like plagiarism, which is something Joe Biden knows a little bit about.
What Harris said is that Biden “believes he measures the health and strength of the American economy based on the health and strength of the American worker and the American family. On the other hand, you have Donald Trump, who measures the economy's strength based on how the rich are doing. This is why he passed a tax bill benefiting the top 1% and the largest corporations in America, leading to a two trillion dollar deficit that the American people will have to pay. On day one, Joe Biden will repeal the tax bill. He will get rid of it”.
Their key difference, it seems, was whether Trump's tax cuts actually helped middle-class Americans. After Pence finished his point, Harris alluded to last week when the presidential debate became an unmanageable mess of Trump's interruptions. At other times, Biden was repeating, “that's not true,” as Trump talked. And Harris continued to shoot barbs at each other over Pence's claim that Biden would raise taxes as well as his claim that Biden would ban fracking. Harris and Pence went back and forth on the seat during the debate.
